Angela Autumn releases her second album, “Believer”, on September 11th via Gar Hole Records, and shares its opening track, “Heavy Tobacco”, with a video she choreographed herself. The song came from thinking about tobacco as both a purifying spirit and a habit that turns harmful, and about choices that carry consequences both ways.
Creekbed Carter Hogan’s “Peasants Revolt” acknowledges the possibility of an imminent apocalypse but is steeped in medieval uprisings, the Haitian Revolution, twenty-first-century trans activism and Americana. The songs are exuberant in their difference, and it’s the sudden shifts to or from the personal that make it such a unique album. A detailed American pastoral, beautiful and powerful.
Jude Brothers announces “Dogwood Maiden Voyage”, their first double LP, out 25 September on Gar Hole Records. The Arkansas-born songwriter shares the first single, “Desire & Devotion” — written on the cliffs above the Northumberland sea and carried by a hand-built puppet video — a churning meditation on desire, devotion and the impossible wish to be free of wanting.
Two Runner have shared “Roadrunner”, the latest single from “Porchlight”, out 28th August via Gar Hole Records. Filmed by Ian Fuenzalida, the accompanying video follows Paige Anderson down the backroads on a dirt bike, with the song’s chorus urging you to “jump on over the line, like a roadrunner making up time.”
Two Runner announce their second album, “PORCHLIGHT”, out August 28th via Gar Hole Records, and share new single and video “Strawberry Rhinestone”. Paige Anderson marks a transitional collection — goodbyes to a longtime musical partner and a decade-long relationship — though the songs stay warm and steady, resolute and tender-hearted, with the earnestness that has earned Two Runner years of praise.
Trans folksinger Creekbed Carter Hogan announces “Peasants Revolt”, out 24th July via Gar Hole Records. The lead single “Cutbank of Cleves” — paired with a video directed and edited by Lexi Kiecker — finds Hogan playing court jester in the halls of a dying empire, sketching a rollicking medieval-Americana fable for an age of upheaval, transition and collective survival.
