Two Runner have shared Roadrunner, a new single from Porchlight, out August 28th via Gar Hole Records. It arrives with a video filmed and edited by Ian Fuenzalida, following Paige Anderson down the backroads on a dirt bike. The single lands a month after the album announcement in June.
The song runs on Anderson’s banjo and guitar, Emilie Rose‘s fiddle, Lucas Lawson‘s bass and Daniel Young‘s drums — a warm, unhurried piece of the bluegrass that anchors the record, its chorus urging the listener to “jump on over the line, like a roadrunner making up time.”
Porchlight is Two Runner’s second album, and the first with Anderson as sole front-person, following her split from longtime collaborator Emilie Rose and a decade-long relationship. She has called its twelve songs a transitional collection, warm and steady but shot through with the ache of moving on. It was recorded live off the floor over several months by Oz Fritz — the engineer behind albums by Tom Waits, Wanda Jackson and The Ramones — at High Velocity Sound Engineering in Nevada City, California.
Anderson has been on the road since she was nine, when she toured in the six-piece Anderson Family Bluegrass, and has since warmed up for Sierra Ferrell, Watchhouse and Molly Tuttle. She is also supporting Alela Diane in the UK and France this October who is touring in support of her latest album Who’s Keeping Time?
Porchlight is up for pre-order now on two LP colour variants and CD at the Gar Hole webstore and Two Runner’s Bandcamp: https://tworunner.garhole.co/porchlight
