Jeffrey Silverstein, whose new album “Doggone” is out now, talks us through ten objects from his home. There is a Daniel Johnston drawing, and a harmonica from his grandpa that sits in front of him whenever he plays guitar. “Music, as much as possible, should be fun,” he says in our latest Off the Shelf feature.

Jeffrey Silverstein’s understated elegance comes into full focus on “Doggone”, his fourth LP and first for Full Time Hobby. Recorded in Portland with local musicians and clocking in at just under half an hour, it’s as lean as it gets, and all the better for it. No notes are wasted.

A full-bodied psychedelic song, it cruises on a deep-seated groove and breezy summer pacing, saving its headiest moment for the outro. It follows “Out of Tune”, his Devendra Banhart collaboration, and lands with an animated visualiser by Squeeeeee Animations.
