Nina Winder-Lind, the Brighton-based, Swedish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known as a member of “Hagstone rock” quartet The New Eves, releases new solo single and video This is Our Life today, April 28th, via Transgressive.
The track pairs folk-pop warmth with an upbeat, driving pulse, foregrounding Winder-Lind’s magnetic vibrato and her instinct for melody. There’s a sense of immediacy here — intimate without being subdued. Where her work in The New Eves channels collective intensity, her solo writing finds something equally bold in the personal.
The accompanying video — directed by Nina and Hugo Winder-Lind, starring Nina alongside fellow New Eve Ella Oona Russell, the sea, the sky and an anonymous dog — mirrors the song’s open-armed spirit.
“‘This is Our Life’ almost wrote itself,” says Winder-Lind. “I was in my family’s cabin in the north of Sweden when it happened. Equipped with an acoustic guitar, a violin and a zoom mic, I went into a shed and made a quick demo. It was sparse but at the same time it was all there already. I was surprised that I seemed to have written a pop song, but apparently that needed to happen.”
She continues: “I wrote the song about someone very close to me and then realised it could actually be about quite a few people in my life. It recognises the mental and sometimes physical struggle of being a creative person but it also celebrates the forces that keep us going. When we play it with the band I feel so happy. We dance. We enter joyous abandon. We declare pride and wild love.”
This is Our Life follows Winder-Lind’s 2023 three-track EP The Spirit Is Carnal and her debut poetry collection Röd Ska Jag Leva (2025), which arrived in the wake of The New Eves’ acclaimed debut album The New Eve Is Rising.
