Last month, we shared the news of Lancashire songwriter Toria Wooff‘s new album Aleister, due for release via Sloe Flower Records on January 12th, 2027, which explores the heavy themes of grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder, infertility, and recovery. The announcement was accompanied by a video directed by Manchester-based Light In The Tower for The Morrigan, her first single, named after a powerful figure in Celtic mythology.
Light In The Tower is also directed the video for her new single, Noiselessly, released today. The accompanying press reveals that Wooff wrote the song alone in her flat five years after her best friend’s passing. She pulls back the layers of grief wound so tightly around her previous work and holds them up to a new light, offering a personal reflection on the enduring absence left by loss and the ever-changing, often bitter landscape that emerges as grief bends over time. The lyrics are borrowed from the eulogy Toria wrote at the time of her passing. “Without you with me now, I feel a fool,” Wooff sings with a palpable weight. “There’s a part of me that died when you did too.” The video captures these reflections as Wooff wanders the moors of her hometown, resisting but habitually yielding to grief’s ever-present grip.
