Having literally just heard whilst making this mix that we’ve been shortlisted for the best publicly nominated radio show by the Mixcloud & International Radio Festival (Zurich) 2014 Awards in the Indie / Alternative category this new mix took on an extra special meaning.
I featured a mix about three years ago called Lost in the Meadow, it was very mellow, a bit alternative and experimental. This is a sort of follow up but I take things a bit further.
During the mix the weather changes with the help of some field recordings of our own and outdoor recorded music. It starts with rain (recorded here at FRUK HQ) but we then head indoors for a live session from King Creosote, James Yorkston and Pictish Trail…we head out again into a spring garden with Mary Hampton and later to a field of sheep with Cate Le Bon for another live session…you get the picture. Along the way there is some great experimentation courtesy of Boduf Songs, Sproatly Smith and more.
It features some of my favourite artists and ends on the epic Yaman Blues by the late great Jack Rose. This is one to really escape to.
Enjoy & Thanks to all of you that voted and to all the other show creators we’ve featured over the years.
