The legendary Gerry Rafferty has died at the age of 63 after a long illness. Rafferty was born on April 16 1947 into a working-class family at Paisley and grew up in a council house on the town’s Glenburn estate.

Folkrock legends Fairport Convention will start their 2011 Winter Tour on Friday 28 January. This will be the band’s twenty-seventh consecutive Winter Tour and includes 32 venues throughout England and Wales.
