Welsh singer-songwriter Lowri Evans made the most of a recent trip to the US where she played several gigs in the Big Apple before heading onto the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City. We caught up with her recently to ask her about the trip and the unexpected final showcase for Michael Eavis.
The Taxidermist is the fourth full-length album from Thirty Pounds of Bone, the nom de plume of Shetland born multi-instrumentalist Johny Lamb. It marks a departure from its predecessor in being an entirely one-man show with Lamb playing everything, recorded live (with no overdubs or edits) in a cellar in West Cornwall.
Our Song of the Day comes from Kings of the South Seas who join Bellowhead on tour next month. Weary Whaling Grounds is their first single from their debut album. Far from glorifying those days the song brings a harsh reality to them. The brutal sound of the music and the repenting lyrics speak loudly.
