Duffy x Uhlmann (Los Angeles duo of Meg Duffy and Gregory Uhlmann) have shared Nylon Waiting Room, the third and final single from Hot Creek, their second album, due August 14th on Orindal Records, along with a recent live performance video for Public Life (video by Alex LaLiberte).
Nylon Waiting Room is a brief offering at just fifty-one seconds long, again accompanied by Christina Huang visualiser.
This is the third single from the album this summer. Doing It for Me came first, back in early July — we covered it here. Public Life followed later that month with the album announcement and Adrienne Rich’s “dream of a common language” as a guiding concept – watch a live performance video by Alex LaLiberte:
As well as playing in Kevin Morby‘s band, Duffy also records solo as Hand Habits, and recently released Your Lemon, a three-track collaboration with the LA composer, pianist, singer and producer Emile Mosseri. Uhlmann has also had a busy year, releasing Extra Stars on International Anthem in March, plus ongoing work with SML, whose live album Spontaneous Music Live came out in June.
Hot Creek is two guitars, nothing else. Named after the geothermal spring in Mono County, California. In the accompanying album notes, Rosie Stockton’s shares how this new release contrasts with their 2023 album, Doubles, marking a shift “from the first album’s gritty, urban soundscape, touching down in the natural world to explore a different dream.”
They play a record release show on August 19th at Sid the Cat Auditorium in Pasadena, CA, with Nina Keith.
