Following our recent announcement of her second album, Wishbone, out October 23rd via state51, Clara Mann has shared her new single, All My Devotion, on which she shared:
“All My Devotion is a love song- I wrote it about my instinct to give everything to someone. I grew up in a family who showed me what devotion meant- devotion to one another, to a way of life, to making things- and I don’t know any other way to love but completely”
The single is accompanied by a video that was co-directed by Clara Mann and Jack Cotter and produced by Meadow Marks.
The single follows last month’s News From Home, which accompanied album announcement. Mann has talked about Wishbone as an album built around the image Rest Energy by the Serbian conceptual performance artist Marina Abramović in which a drawn bow is held between two bodies, depicting trust and the possibility of ruin in one gesture. The new album marks a shift from the nostalgic introspection of Rift, as she was determined to imagine good things for herself, and believe they might actually be within reach. A prospect she found frightening: to picture a life that’s beautiful and allow herself to want it.
Clara Mann is also set to perform a live BBC Radio 2 session tonight at 9pm for Mark Radcliffe.
