Vancouver-based Laucan and Brighton-based producer Samuel Organ release their debut album, ‘LORCAN’, on Astral Black this week (March 22nd). The album explores ethereal folk and avant-garde electronica, drawing inspiration from Organ’s role as chief practitioner at Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley Sonic Research Centre. Organ’s expertise in ethnosonic-archaeology is evident throughout, with Aignish On The Machiar offering a tantalising opener, featuring a field recording from a 1973 trip to the Inner Hebrides over which Laucan harmonises. The effect is quite mesmerizing, a journey through time and space.
