Our Song of the Day comes from Laetitia Sadier with a new video for Oscuridad from her latest album Something Shines. The album is an exploration on how it is up to us to guide and shape our fate, individually and collectively. Using French Marxist theorist Guy Debord’s The Society of the Spectacle as a focus it raises questions, as it does on Oscuridad –
“Do the rich need the poor to be rich? Would there be poverty if there weren’t any rich? Is it in the interest of the rich to eradicate poverty?”
The video was made by Loic Jouan and features film footage from Fitz Lang and Soviet Russian film director Sergei Eisenstein.
