I have to say I didn’t know what to expect when I fist heard Melinda West open a session with Hands Up on accordion but after listening for a couple of minutes I was hooked.
She is currently working on her first EP which is due out this summer but we have some nice studio sessions recorded by Lovecraft.tv which we’d like to share below. The violinist is pretty ace as well:
She does have a great voice add to this her love for gypsy, tango and folk and you come up with a very unique sounding individual who’s seems more than capable of getting her music out there. She has an interesting collaborative history performing with other bands as part of the the speakeasy scene in LA as well as ‘composing for musicals and short films, in addition to working with the Center for the Art of Performance to perform interactive music sets for theatrical exhibitions and concerts.’ She seems to be making a name for herself already, with the support of a great band she’s been landing some great gigs, we think it’s only a matter of time before more people outside her circuit catch on to what she’s doing. One to watch our for? Definitely!
Keep up with her here:
