Our Song of the Day is from the Brighton based Indie-Folk band The Galleons. On their website they joke about who they’ve been compared to which includes: Low, Tunng, Fairport Convention, Belle & Sebastian, Trembling Bells, The Grateful Dead, Arcade Fire, Pentangle and Bonnie Prince Billy. I think it’s a good sign that the breadth of comparison is so wide, as their influences are equally so, spanning traditional British Folk to modern Indie.
I had it set in my mind last night that I would select one of their songs for today, I was spoilt for choice if I’m honest. I don’t think I’ve heard anything of there’s yet that I’ve not really liked. Anyhow, after some deliberation I settled on Whale Song which is from their latest album Cloud Physics which you can order via bandcamp.
