Kalandra are a six-piece folk/rock band based in Liverpool. The band consists of musicians originating from England, The Isle of Man and Norway lead by vocalist and songwriter Katrine Stenbekk. As you can see from their latest video Not Some Fairytale they take their themes from old folklore…both Celtic and Norweigan…and conjure up some fairly dark tales.
The temptress in Not Some Fairytale is reminiscent of the chilling water-sprite featured in the ballad ‘George Collins’ although this one resorts to more than a poison kiss…one best avoided. Despite the dark tale the Nordic scenery is spectacular and vast.
