Guitarist Steve Gunn has announced his new album, Daylight Daylight, his first for the No Quarter label. It features contributions from Macie Stewart, Ben Whiteley, Nick Macri, and Hunter Diamond, and was produced and arranged by his old friend, James Elkington. Listen to the lead single “Nearly There” and don’t miss his upcoming tour dates in the UK and EU.

On Music for Writers, his first solo instrumental album, Steve Gunn masterfully blends guitars, synths, and field recordings from his travels. The album blurs the line between performance and nature, or life, resulting in music that ‘listens as much as it speaks.’ The pure, meditative sound features beautiful guitar parts that shift from innocent to anxious, creating an immersive experience that invites close listening and encourages stillness and calm.

Steve Gunn’s new single, “Sky (debesis),” is the transportive opening track from his upcoming solo instrumental album, Music for Writers, out August 15th. The album offers open, textured soundscapes designed as a companion for thought and reflection. Recorded in various locations from Brooklyn to Latvia, the music uses guitar, synths, and field recordings to create small, immersive environments—a quiet observation of the world, embracing both its anxiety and peace.

Steve Gunn announces ‘Music for Writers,’ arriving August 15th via Three Lobed Recordings. It’s described as a wordless collection of pieces meant to accompany thought and inspire another way – “It came from walking without direction, from listening to birds and distant engines, looking at sculpture, watching movement through a window, from writing freely in notebooks and letting sound follow thought.” Listen to his single “Slow Singers On The Hill”.

“Another Tide, Another Fish” contains imaginative re-workings and improvisations by Andrew Tuttle of the late great Michael Chapman’s unfinished instrumental album. Taken from the album, watch the accompanying video for ‘Wholly Unrelated To Four Seasons’.

Beings are the New York City quartet Zoh Amba, Steve Gunn, Shahzad Ismaily and Jim White; their debut album, ‘There is a Garden’, is blistering, beautiful free jazz with an uncommonly sunny and accommodating outlook.

Steve Gunn & David Moore’s “Live in London” was recorded at Cafe Oto during their 2023 spring tour of ‘Let the Moon be a Planet’…using pieces that appeared on that album, they have created five new compositions from a place of joy and camaraderie.

Oisín Leech’s Cold Sea is an album of rapt meditations on life and love, set against the wild Irish landscape. These are songs that flow placidly, broodingly, leaving the listener awed into silence.

Watch ‘Colour Of The Rain’, the new single from Irish songwriter Oisin Leech of the musical duo The Lost Brothers, taken from his new album Cold Sea, produced by, and featuring Steve Gunn, as well as contributions from M. Ward and Tony Garnier.

Brooklyn guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Steve Gunn has announced a string of solo UK tour dates on which he will also be joined by the incredible Brigid Mae Power.

Steve Gunn, John Truscinski and Bill Nace’s ‘Glass Band’ is an unpretentiously experimental and adventurous album, with lots to discover and each player bringing plenty to the table. It rewards, perhaps even demands, repeated listens, which is certainly no hardship.

Steve Gunn and David Moore’s ‘Let the Moon be a Planet’ feels improvised and free in nature. Still, its natural idiosyncrasies and fine nuances invite and reward deep listening—a quietly rich, contemplative and satisfying experience.
