As featured in KLOF Magazine last year, the chameleon-like singer songwriter and guitarist Steve Gunn teamed up with minimalist pianist and fellow New Yorker David Moore (Bing & Ruth) to create a new musical dialogue titled Reflections Vol.1: Let the Moon be a Planet.
The album release was followed by a European tour in the Spring of 2023, including a performance at the highly regarded Cafe OTO in London. Recorded by Billy Steiger and mixed by Nick Principe, that Cafe OTO performance is now available for all to enjoy following its release via RVNG Intl. It is available on vinyl, CD, and digital (via RVNG Intl. and Bandcamp). A track is also featured in our latest Monday Morning Brew Playlist (# 39).
“Using pieces that appeared on their collaboration album Let the Moon Be a Planet as loose armatures throughout their live set, Gunn and Moore expand and contract a sense of tension within the meditative calm of five new compositions, appearing in real time from rippling interplay between piano and guitar and between, and from a place of joy and camaraderie.”
…its natural idiosyncrasies and fine nuances invite and reward deep listening—a quietly rich, contemplative and satisfying experience.
