February 1st, 2019 sees the return of Yorkshire musician Serious Sam Barrett with a brand new solo album. Watch his new video for the title track Where The White Roses Grow which is also our Song of the Day.

Warwick Folk Festival, which celebrates its 40th year in 2019, has announced multi-instrumental wizard Will Pound as their new Patron.

Watch the video for You Read My Mind, the joyous new single from Me and My Friends which features beautiful plucked cello and Latin-inspired strings. The single is set for release tomorrow on Split Shift Records. 

Our Song of the Day comes from English folk trio Faustus. The Deadly Sands is from the Ruth Tongue Collection, a cheery tale…The sands of the Severn Estuary swallow up unfortunate sailors. Everyone dies.

Festival of Small Halls will run for eight days and includes concerts, cèilidhs, workshops in halls and schools by some of the nation’s finest traditional musicians, including Jarlath Henderson, Duncan Chisholm, Mairearad Green, Innes Watson, Donald Shaw, Mike Vass and Seán Gray.

Watch Dick Gaughan performing Childhood’s End at the recent Far, Far From Ypres Stage Show. Dick had a stroke in 2016 which has prevented him from performing so this will be a real treat to fans of whom he has many. Great to have him back!

Our Song of the Day is Séadnadh Mór (The Lion and Fox) performed live by Preab Meadar (Lorcán Mac Mathúna and Daire ó Breacáin). They are joined by Sean Nós dancers Liam Scanlon and Caoimhe Ní Mhaolagáin.

Currently mid-way through a 29 date UK & Ireland tour, John Smith has just announced further UK dates for January & February 2019. For the remaining 2018 tour dates John’s shows will be opened by Canadian singer-songwriter Rose Cousins.
