Since the release of Jonsi’s solo album go which we mentioned back in April the music press have been all over it. This was not suprising, taking into account the mammoth world tour and a stage set designed by 59 productions, bringing together the worlds of theatre and music. With each video release, expectations are raised even further. You can decide for yourself whether the latest video for Animal Arithmetic …

Angus and Julia Stone are well underway with a European tour and will be heading to the UK in December if you want to catch them. Their latest album, Down The Way, was released in March this year. Whilst hunting around the web we came across this great session put together by the good folks at Le Cargo! that’s really worth watching:

The fabulous Willkommen Collective are out in force this Friday when they take up residence at The Big Chill’s Lazy Land stage. In addition to 35 of the collective being present from Thursday onwards it’s also Willkommen clarinet player Emma “The Mad Gatter” Gatrill’s birthday so they have extended an open invitation to come and party with them. Sounds too good to miss! The line-up for Friday – August 6th …

As mentioned on their main site The Decemberists are now well underway recording their sixth album at a barn in an undisclosed location near Portland. Their management suggested they provide some photos of their endeavours so they provided this interesting photo of a strange looking cross dressing fairy:

Black Prairie are a progressive string band from various quarters of Portland, Oregon which seems to have a rich bedrock of musicians and artists on tap. The following two tracks on offer as free downloads are taken from Nina Nastasia’s latest album Outlaster. Outlaster was released in June this year, lushly orchestrated, unlike her earlier work.

The Balky Mule is Bristol based Sam Jones, he recently performed to great tracks for the Brixton Sessions site covering summery versions of ‘Dust Bird Baths’ and ‘Wireless’, both taken from his 2009 album The Length of the Rail.

Quadron is a child that’s been made by Coco and Robin. Both were part of the soul collective “Boom Clap Bachelors” who in early 2008 secured much respect and success with their debut “Kort Før Dine Læber”. Here they began their collaboration, and Robin fell for Coco’s beautiful voice and ability to improvise with playful ease.

Futurebirds released their debut album, Hampton’s Lullaby, on Autumn Tone Records on 27th July. The label sum them up nicely: Covered in kudzu and swathed in a blanket of humidity, Spanish moss, feedback and reverb exists Futurebirds.

Less addled than Tobacco and less amoebic than Seven Fields Of Aphelion, Dreamend is the most overtly normal branch of the knotty weirdo giving tree that is Black Moth Super Rainbow. It’s a project of honeycomb banjo lullabies like “Magnesium Light,” which we are going to save for when we have kids and need to alleviate their (our) tiring brains. So I Ate Myself, Bite By Bite (SIAMByB), the first …
