We seem to have trebled our listeners on our Frukie Channel in the last couple of days so I’ve had to add more listener slots. Which I’ve just done. You’ll need to open the listen links page and refresh it so the links update. The flash player won’t pick up the changes until tomorrow when Shoutcast update our links.

Hey Rosetta! recorded a session for La Blogotheque in San Francisco. In the words of Art Perez at La Blogotheque: I found myself having to give this band a chance. I needed to listen to something new. They were cunning and heart wrenching. Polite and angry. Happy and sad. Their lyrics were smart and their melodies were powerful. They weren’t just something “new” they were something “great”.

The cello extraordinaire Portland Cello Project, renowned for their incredible covers, made it into the Daytrotter studios at the weekend to record a session. They released a new album in July titled Thousand Words. It has to be said, that having listened to the set, they do create a lot of atmosphere covering a range of emotions although Sean Moeller at Daytrotter was certainly more disturbed by their set than …

It is fair to say that most people have struggled during this recession and we are no exception. We have therefore had to take some tough decisions. We have decided to stop the Roots Channel today due to lack of funds. We will however, continue with our Frukie Channel with a greater concentration and focus.

La Blogotheque have a great new session recorded with Carina Round. Her new EP Things You Should Know is out now.

Springs is the new brainchild of guitarist and vocalist Mike Visser. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa he spent 8 years in California playing with the band Frank Jordan and touring the United States. After that project dissipated, he bounced from Sacramento, CA to Shwanksville, PA before settling in Brooklyn and setting to work on new material.

For the last 5 years, living in a car, booking his own shows, producing all his own music, Paleo has become something of a mantlepiece in the American house show circuit. His tour history is a database for kindred spirits: over 700 shows across the US, about 150 a year since 2005. Daytrotter’s Sean Moeller playfully crowned him their Poet Laureate in 2007. And while his self-released first record, Misery, …

Raised on a Hare Krishna commune in Florida, educated at art school in Boston, and now making noise and living in Brooklyn, Prince Rama are the latest addition to the Paw Tracks roster. Their new album Shadow Temple is an epic shrine of swirling synths, pulsing guitars, and thunder drums. An ethereal chorus of voices and anthemic melodies create a reverb-washed mine of sonic artifacts drawing from southeast Asian rituals, …

Life’s quests forms the central theme in Kathryn Calder’s latest animated video called Slip Away which was directed by Dean Tzenos. As the song title suggests, we don’t always get what we want in our quests. Kathryn had the original idea for the video and the artwork is based on some of her own original work. You can see more her art featured on Are You My Mother (out Aug. …

Sarah Blasko recently performed at The Flowerpot in London, collaborating with Angus & Julia Stone as part of a Communion Club Night. The extension of the Communion umbrella to Australia has resulted in some fine artists joining the ranks for extra exposure in Europe. Sarah Blasko is certainly one to watch out for. Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn And John fame produced her latest album As Day Follows Night. Her …

The weekends have always been about chillin’ and relaxing, taking some time out, enjoying your freedom! Or at least that’s how I remember them from many moons ago. Here’s some Frukie goodness to help you along or to recover from the night before: Blitzen Trapper, one of my favourite tracks – Black River Killer

I recently mentioned about the release of Antony and the Johnsons new album, Swanlights. Here’s a taster from the album. This is Thank You For You Love, if you like it you can sign up to the mailing list and download it for free.
