Alex Ebert, lead singer of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros has just released his self-titled solo debut album Alexander. As Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros prepare for their Railroad Revival Tour with Mumford and Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show a few eyes were raised on the timing, but the album has been getting a lot of attention and airplay.

We’ve been having a look and listen to the numerous artists showcasing SXWS this year. We’ll be featuring video and tracks on Folk Radio UK of some the artists that stood out for us, as well as uncovering some lessser know acts.

Pearl and the Beard, those feel good spectacled folkies and apple in the eye of Family Records have released a free EP, are appearing at SXSW and have a new album out in April!

Pepe Belmont’s debut release: The Hermit’s Waltz is, in a nutshell, like hearing a classic in the making, an exceptional and beautiful album! It made such a big impression on me that I rang him up to tell him! It is our album of the week so listen out for it!

Through a Fogged Glass is the latest release of cellist and Songwriter, Wes Swing. His style is reminiscent of Andrew Bird with an uncanny ability to build beautiful soundscapes and poetry.
