Watch the Twisted Teens video for Florida Water Blues, the title track of their third album, released last month (July 10th) on Going Underground Records.
Directed by Jack Massuci with cinematography by Jackson Bear, the video is a short film shot on location in New Orleans. It stars Bob and Piff as a pair of outlaw sweethearts drifting through a love story that is equal parts tender and unsettling — a fitting companion to a song that opens with a line that cleverly plays on García Márquez’s magnum opus: “You’ve had about a hundred beers of solitude”.
The album is the New Orleans band’s second release of 2026, following February’s Blame the Clown. Both were recorded during the same sessions, but where Blame the Clown ran on nervous energy and sharp minimalism, Florida Water Blues is more patient, more detailed, and soaked in Gulf Coast atmosphere. Across thirteen tracks, Caspian Hollywell (CPN) handles drums, guitar, bass, vocals and synths, while RJ Santos provides the steel guitar that has become the band’s not-so-secret weapon with Mel Billiard on guitar and baritone, alongside a number of guests.
Listeners familiar with KLOF’s recent output may recall that Twisted Teens featured in Mixtape KLOF No. 85. And Hollywell’s reach extends beyond the band — he contributes backing vocals to Cinder Well‘s latest album, released just a week after Florida Water Blues – in his review of Cinder Well’s A Blooming Body, KLOF’s Thomas Blake describes Hollywell’s voice as quietly pained…making for a strangely moving – and gripping – experience. Both Hollywell and Cinder Well’s Amelia Baker were also members of the anarcho-folk band Blackbird Raum.
Twisted Teens are on tour this summer, with dates supporting the Breeders and Kurt Vile & the Violators later this year.
