In 2013, Lüüp, the brainchild of flautist Stelios Romaliadis, released a beautiful album titled Meadow Rituals on Experimedia. The album was beautifully packaged with an autumnal landscape photograph on the cover.
In our album review, Melanie McGovern described Meadow Ritual as “essentially a work of opposites: at times dark and archaic, at others light and melodic it is a mysterious and introspective concoction combining the talents of some 19 musicians including Greg Haines, Andria Degens and David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator/Peter Gabriel). Employing these talents over eight tracks and through collaboration via different couplings of these artists, Meadow Rituals prides itself on a sound that is drawn from a whole range of genres, continents and epochs.”
If you are familiar or new to their genre-defying music then you are in for a treat as Stelios recently contacted me to say they had discovered videos of the aforementioned album mini-tour. The footage is taken from a concert at Six D.O.G.S. in Athens (February 7th 2013) and the line-up is:
Lisa Isaksson | vocals, ac. guitar, flute
Lefteris Moumtzis | vocals, ac. guitar, fx
Sofia Efkleidou | cello
David Svedmyr | 12-string ac. guitar
Stelios Romaliadis | flute, fx
I’m very thankful to Stelios for reaching out to us, especially as he included the opening album track Horse Heart, one of my personal favourites followed by Taurokathapsia. Enjoy.
