There is a rich offering of new music in this weeks show which continues with our long-running Lost in Transmission series, a popular series that has helped build the following we now have on the Mixcloud platform with over 20K followers.
Alongside current Featured Albums of the Month including Martin Simpson‘s Home Recordings, The Rheingans Sisters‘ Receiver and new arrival Cunning Folk‘s A Casual Invocation are a bundle of new releases.
We have new music from Edgelarks, taken from their forthcoming Henry Martin album as well as LAU‘s new Folk Songs EP which you can pre-order via the LAU store now: https://laumusic.bigcartel.com/ – more on that one soon.
About Folk Songs LAU say:
For 15 years now we’ve been writing new music in the language and spirit of traditional song and dance. Our instinct has always been to keep pushing forward, keep testing what elements can be woven around the old idioms to make them new and keep them true. This is our first real foray into the traditional canon proper, and what drives us is the same as ever. Why the old songs now? Because 2020. Old stories feel important. Like all performers everywhere, we’ve been forced off the road, and now felt the moment to reflect and reground. We’ve inhabited rather than written these five songs, and their emotional fire has swept us away.
We also have music from a number of recently reviewed releases and premieres which are linked in the playlist below to allow you to dig a little deeper as well as a track from Laura Fell’s debut album ’Safe from Me’ (out today).
Enjoy
