While Canadian musician Dan Mangan admits “I was scared out of my mind at the prospect of actually acting in something” he did go-ahead and bite the bullet. The result is With Me (watch below), under the Directorship of Weyni Mengesha and starring alongside Canadian actress Chilina Kennedy (who plays Carole King in “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”) they pull off a totally convincing and moving performance.
The short film is a new interpretation of Mangan’s song Fool For Waiting (from his 2018 More or Less album), told through the lens of a complicated relationship. The short has been hitting a few film festivals and he has just been given the go-ahead to put it online. Watch it below:
Dan has also announced he will be opening for Matt Holubowski in Quebec, then shows for #NNVN10 with the band (Dan’s second album Nice, Nice, Very Nices was released in 2009 and was shortlisted for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize). He will be opening up those full band shows alone, performing Nice, Nice, Very Nice in entirety.
