Dublin-based band Slow Moving Clouds (featuring Aki, Danny Diamond & Kevin Murphy) combine roots in the Irish and Nordic folk traditions with post-punk drones, baroque strings, and soaring falsetto vocals – creating an immersive, atmospheric sound, unlike anything you’ve heard before.
Building on the success of their 2015 debut album Os, the group have announced that they will release their highly anticipated second album, Starfall, on Friday 21st September, and perform a number of shows in the UK and Ireland. With the announcement comes a new video for their single ‘Trin’:
The critically acclaimed 2015 debut album, Os, drew comparisons to Icelandic post-rock legends Sigur Ros and Irish traditional supergroup The Gloaming.
Starfall will see Slow Moving Clouds’ folk roots merge with indie and experimental influences, expanding the sonic palette and power of their earlier work. The album is set to be released on the new Berlin-based PEOPLE music platform, led by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Aaron and Bryce Dessner (The National).
Recent highlights for the group include an ongoing collaboration with Bryce Dessner of The National, performances at the 3Arena, Dublin (with Ludovico Einaudi), Sydney Opera House (with Teac Damsa’s Swan Loch / Loch na hEala), and at legendary Irish fiddle player Martin Hayes’ Masters of Tradition festival.
Experience their new album live at the inaugural Quiet Lights festival in Cork, Saturday 8th September, and at Whelan’s, Dublin, Sunday 23rd September. Tickets for both shows are available now at quietlights.net / whelanslive.com
