This week’s mix takes its name from The Memory Band track ‘The Wearing Of The Horns (Weyhill On My Mind)‘ which featured on their last album ‘On The Chalk (Our Navigation Of The Line Of The Downs)‘, one I never tire of. But kicking things off is a new track from Irish band The Driftwood Manor with Spring, taken from their new album ‘For the Moon‘. They set a nice driving start which is taken up-tempo by the mysterious band, whose members remain anonymous, The FLK. Mid-way through we’ve a healthy dose of English folk from Fay Hield & The Hurricane Party, Jon Boden with a track from his soon to be re-issued Painted Lady and Jim Moray, helped by Bristol rapper Bubbz – just don’t expect a happy story….this is folk afterall.
Following that, the pioneering band The Owl Service with a track from their final album (maybe) His Pride. No Spear. No Friend. With the help of the The Furrow Collective and Kris Drever we prepare for the shift to the land of psychedelic opened by Bombadeal and taken to the top by Harvey Lord, Buffy Sainte-Marie and a double helping of the Incredible String Band.
In all a great mix that I had a lot of fun putting together. Enjoy!
