An eclectic and somewhat indulgent mix this week covering roots, blues and beyond and which is probably the most upbeat full-on mix I’ve done for a while…maybe even since Oranges & Blues back in 2011. It kicks off from the Appalachians then heads out on a journey via the Mississippi State Penitentiary known as Parchman Farm before increasing in notches along the way courtesy of R.L. Burnside, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band (main image), Songhhoy Blues and Robert Plant. The return journey is provided by Sam Amidon, Shakey Graves, Sallie Ford and Robert Wyatt before the essential madness of The Books pitches in for the finale from Transglobal Underground.
If you’re wondering about the title it’s referenced in two of the songs…
