Halfway through her European tour supporting Basia Bulat and Damien Jurado, and nearly a year after the release of her groundbreaking album Loyalty (nominated for the Polaris Prize, Best Albums of 2015 on Folk Radio UK ), Tamara Lindeman of The Weather Station is sharing an intimate behind-the-scenes look at her songwriting and creative process, touching on how personal experience, emotional ambiguity, and the influences of other artists inform her work. The film includes footage of performances of the songs “Loyalty,” “Personal Eclipse,” and “Floodplain.”
The Weather Station will return to the UK for the Green Man Festival in Brecon (18-21 August) .
Toronto filmmaker and photographer Colin Medley describes Sentiment and Memory this way:
“This short film came about towards the end of last summer, when The Weather Station was booked to play a small festival on the Toronto Islands. I tagged along with the band on the day of the show, capturing moments of travel and rehearsal, as well as the concert itself. Later Tamara and I sat down for an interview, and for an intimate performance in the kitchen of her home. I’m quite happy with how it turned out, since the original plan was simply to shoot a show. It turned into something so much more special.”
