Underneath the Stars Festival which is held at Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley have put together a great line up. The festival is running for three full days this year and includes a full programme of workshops and other exciting activities!
For those of you who unfamiliar with the festival it was born out of a collaboration between Barnsley folk singer-songwriter Kate Rusby, her family production team and Cannon Hall Open Farm run by the Nicholson Family. What began as an effort to raise funds for local projects such as the local Cawthorne Cricket Club, Church and Preschool has developed into a weekend of world class entertainment in South Yorkshire.
The line up has something to please all and I’m sure there will be plenty of new discoveries in there for most. Some well known names include Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eddi Reader, Martin Simpson, Bruce Molsky, Bob Fox, The Young’uns, Damien O’Kane, Keston Cobblers Club, Siobhan Miller, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston, Luke Daniels, Jim Causley Galleon Blast Ft: Mark Radcliffe and of course, Kate Rusby. There also some lively performances mixed in there to create that party atmosphere including the Tropical-Gypsy-Dance sound of London six-piece Molotov Jukebox and the hi-energy 20’s Swing inspired The Electric Swing Circus. This is a great festival for all ages with plenty going on from crafts, storytelling to workshops – something for everyone.
