As we mentioned earlier this week Martin Simpson, Andy Cutting & Nancy Kerr are set to release a new album called Murmurs on June 8th 2015 via Topic Records. We had the pleasure of seeing a great video interview with Nancy Kerr in which she introduced a fiddle she plays on the album (watch it here) around which she told some great stories as well as playing some very fine tunes. Well it’s now the turn of Andy Cutting, as he introduces the diatonic accordion he made in France with Emmanuel Pariselle. It’s a fascinating story, one that also highlights how busy this man is when he managed to find six days to set aside to head to France to make the accordion. He wasn’t the only one there as he was joined by leading Irish button accordion player Mairtin O’Connor, a fortuitous moment as you will see. He’s clearly very proud of his creation which went beyond his, and others expectations. He also plays a tune from the album ‘Fair Rosamund’.
The trio’s debut album ‘Murmurs’ will be released on Topic Records on 8 June 2015.
A special 7″ double-A sided vinyl single – Dark Honey/Ruben – will be released on April 20th. Dark Honey written by Nancy Kerr was inspired by the sight of swarms of bees in her urban garden. Ruben is a non-album track, exclusive to this single, a re-working of the American standard also known as ‘Reuben’s Train’.
