Boo Hewerdine releases his first career spanning retrospective My Name In The Brackets (The Best Of Boo Hewerdine & The Bible) on December 8th 2014 via Reveal Records. A new single Snowglobe precedes the album and includes an edited version of the lead track alongside another brand new song Funny Bones (not available on the album). Funny Bones is a typically charming, wry and heart tugging little number of the sort that Boo seems to effortlessly create at will. Also in a typically sideways move, the unreleased song has a video, shot by Richard Ecclestone, who took photos for the album. The antithesis of action packed drama, budget sapping CGI or bravura performance, the video is a simple still photograph brought to life, and really rather nicely done.
The forthcoming My Name In The Brackets features 18 of Boo’s greatest songs from his time leading The Bible in the mid-eighties and his subsequent solo career. The compilation spans over 25 years worth of recordings and includes three brand new songs written specifically for the new album, but we’ll have a full review to follow.
Boo Hewerdine will tour the UK in November 2014 (see dates below) where audiences can expect to hear many of their favourite Boo songs alongside the new material. Renowned for his bone-dry, between-song banter Boo appears to have an endless supply of anecdotes about his brushes with, ‘almost, nearly, not quite fame’!
