It was in 2001 that Ross Wilson (Blue Rose Code) first saw Danny Thompson playing the Glasgow leg of Sunshine Boys Reunion Tour with John Martyn. Whilst the singer / guitarist proved the inspiration that sparked Ross’ own determination to make his own music, Danny has come to play a surprising part in this emerging story.
Having moved to London and set about recording his debut album, the critically lauded North Ten, a mutual friend provided an introduction. The two hit it off and suitably impressed by what he heard Danny agreed to add his distinctive bass style to the album.
When it came to the follow up, the recently released The Ballads Of Peckham Rye, Ross once again called on Danny. This time he was armed with songs writen specifically with Danny in mind and once more the bass-man was happy to be involved.
The Ballads Of Peckham Rye has drawn praise from all corners and Ross has hooked up with Danny for a special series of shows taking it around the UK this Autumn, dates below. Get your tickets now.
