The Lights of Flushing is a wonderful and intimate documentary that that goes deep into the very heart of the coastal fishing village of Flushing in Cornwall. Every year they put up the annual Christmas lights which summon forth the memories of past villagers. In turn the villagers talk of their own pasts, present and futures.
It’s a magical film that shows a lovely side of human nature as well as highlighting the importance of such traditions.
‘It’s kind of a secret name, that nobody really talks about unless you were pretty much born and bred or brought up or know someone that lives around here’
Produced by the British Film Institute in 2012 as part of the Doc Next Media Lab scheme.
