The Looking Glass Arts Bar and Gallery is based in Bristol and is a very unique space presenting and producing cutting edge works covering Live Music, DJs, Performance Art, Theatre, Installation and Visual Art. The premises was a derelict council owned building formally known as The Rummer Inn which had remained empty since 1999. It was re-opened in 2012 as part of Bristol City Council’s Capacity Project which opens up empty and underused buildings for creative uses for the benefit of Bristol’s creative community, residents and visitors to the city.
The beauty of their current space is it is bringing back to the old centre of Bristol what many of the new developments such as Broadmead and Cabot’s Circus took away from area. It’s giving something back which grows to inspire others….a burgeoning creative community. Unfortunately the premises have now been purchased so they are now looking for a new space. This is not all bad news…they are clear about who they are and what they want to do so they will sink all that energy and enthusiasm into their new venture, wherever that may be. Here’s a taste of what creative talent and great vision can achieve:
