I love The Fence Collective and Fence Records, as labels go it is quite easily my favourite and has been for some time now. It’s not just their taste in music that flicks my switch but their approach to it and the inclusiveness of all those involved.
As some of you will be aware Fence has had a lot of big news last week, The Pictish Trail who has been running the label for many years announced that he would be closing Fence Records and starting a new label next week…then Fence Records founder King Creosote announced that despite leaving Fence last year he would be returning to run Fence Records next year.
At present it seems to be a mess. As Withered Hand, a member of the Fence Collective pointed out “ain’t it kinda good to end up with a new label AND old fence?” and of course, he’s right.
Anyway, why I’m here. As I mentioned, I love The Fence Collective and Fence Records. This weeks show is dedicated to them, my little way of saying thank you for everything they’ve done so far, and to wish them good luck with everything they do in the future.
