Songs from the Ark is a new two hour weekly show on Folk Radio UK and the first broadcast will be this Sunday at 2:00pm. A word from your host Del Day:
Songs From The Ark delves into the vaults of country, rock ‘n’ roll, bluegrass, southern soul, singer-songwriters and any other pre-defined genre to find the nuggets and gems that deserve your attention. From Son Volt to Sun Ra, Slim Harpo to Steve Earle, Guy Clark to The Gun Club, tune into Songs From The Ark and all your musical needs will be catered for in full. In the words of the mighty Dave Mathews (yeah, I know!) “Good music is good music and everything else can go to hell!” So all aboard The Ark, folks, destination unknown but I promise it’s gonna be one hell of a trip.
This weeks show offers up a true classic from Jesse Winchester, some good ole arse-shaking with Pokey LaFarge and Merry Clayton, the effervescent Dr John telling it like it is, great honky tonkin’ with Tom Armstrong and something brand new and brilliant from Leeroy Stagger (pictured above). Oh, and much more besides. Tune in, that’s an order!!
