The next Simple Folk Radio Show will be a re-run of a show from earlier in the year which features a session from The Diamond Family Archive:
Described as Psych-folk, Freak-folk, Alt-folk Laurence Collyer is a reclusive British artist who writes, records and performs music and folk-song using the rather grand moniker, The Diamond Family Archive.
Laurence has been involved in the DIY music scene for many years and was the co-founder of Woodland Recordings. The Diamond Family Archive are currently releasing records, tapes and CDs through a handful of labels (Dinosaur Club {USA}, Tired Trails {USA}, A Beard of Snails {Denmark}, Bleeding Hearts Recordings {UK}).
“…this is haunting, intense, spectral folk but with a distinctly British sound… imagine Mark Kozelek’s haunting folk with elements of Robert Wyatt’s heart wrenching vocals combined with Collyer’s beautiful songs…” Rough Trade
“Strange and tender songs…Leftfield, oddball and gorgeous, fragile, sublime lo-fi melancholia” Stolen Recordings
“Laurence’s odd, personal lyrical observations beguile and bewilder. Music rarely comes more atmospheric than this. the diamond family archive; if you have yet to see them, prepare to be stunned” The Gilded Palace Of Sin
“hauntingly atmospheric folk, all lazy grace, music made for lonesome country wanderings…” (IC) Brighton Source
“Beautiful noise from the margins” Port Eliot Festival
