This week’s Simple Folk Radio show, presented by monthly host, Daniel Green from the band Laish, features a session from Portland Oregon resident, Daniel Dixon.
Green explains: “I met Daniel Dixon at a Laish show in Falmouth. He was playing guitar for the protest troubadour, Catherine Feeny, and his inventive and understated playing caught my ear. Feeny invited him to sing one of his own songs during her set, and he completely silenced the room. After the show, we all piled onto a boat on the harbour next to the venue and stayed up all night drinking and singing songs together. He was most charming and gave us a copy of his solo album which I have cherished. I would tell you more about his musical background but I can’t find a single written word about him online, only his music. As it should be really.”

Joining Daniel in the studio will be Rozi Plain, Fence Records’ own folk superstar. A collaborator with This is the Kit, Rachael Dadd and countless others, she has weaved her away through the folk scene for many years, making rooms go gooey with her singular minimalist approach to songwriting and performance. We look forward to hearing what selections she makes for us.
