Folk Radio UK favourites Buck and Shanti Curran, better known as Arborea, recently performed a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR which you can watch below. We have been playing their music on the station since 2006 when we featured their album ‘Wayfaring Summer’. Their most recent release ‘Red Planet’ (read our review) received some great press and their reputation has been steadily growing outside the US in Europe and the UK where they hope to return again later in the year. They will also be performing at Philadelphia Folk Festival in he US alongside the likes of Little Feat, Steve Earle The Dukes & Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Tiny Desk Concert:
Whilst they clearly have American music influences from the likes of Tim Buckley to Robbie Basho (read: We Are All One, In the Sun) What many people don’t appreciate is their British Folk influences and in particular ‘Martin Simpson’ who they featured in a mix they did for us a couple of years ago which you can listen to below.
