“Dream Me a Dream” was Tucker Zimmerman’s final recording, and while his MO was dusty, lo-fi outsider folk, his range was much bigger than those labels imply. This is an album that opens out at every turn. What shines most brightly is Zimmerman’s generosity of spirit — a fitting tribute to this most unconventional and quietly gifted of songwriters.

Big Potato Records have announced Dream Me A Dream, the final studio album from Tucker Zimmerman, out June 19th. Listen to the first single Sun In Scorpio now. Pairing banjo, violin and swirling organ with orchestral Moog and analogue synths, Zimmerman leapt into textures recalling the electronica adventures of his earlier work. He was in his eighties, and it sounds like nothing else he recorded.

Dance of Love feels like it could turn out to be Tucker Zimmerman’s Basement Tapes. Everything about it is fresh and spontaneous, music made on its own terms but with a spirit of collaborative generosity.   

Nicolas Michaux premieres a deeply emotive and haunting video for She’s an Easy Rider, a powerful re-adaptation of Tucker Zimmerman’s song. It’s a stunning reinterpretation, the translation of which was clearly not lost on the video’s Director, Kevin Antoine.

Tucker Zimmerman makes a rare London appearance this Friday and will be also be performing at Bristol Folk Festival this Sunday with Wizz Jones, Ben Mandelson, Ian A. Anderson, Nancy Wallace and Jason Steel.

The 2012 Bristol Folk Festival will conjure up “ghosts” from the city’s Seventies cult music scene when it returns next May Bank Holiday.
