Myles na gCopaleen’s An Béal Bocht sets out Irish identity as a series of gaps between expectation and reality. Trá Pháidín recognise that those gaps still exist, detect the places where they are widening, and – quite brilliantly – attempt to draw them together with a keen ear for the absurd and an impressive mastery of musical forms old and new, one that includes avant jazz, krautrock, and modern composition.

Trá Pháidín announce “Cloch ‘s Claí”, their first album for World of Echo, out 25th September, and share a video for launch track “An Béal Bocht”. Inspired by Myles na gCopaleen’s 1941 novel, the track sets images of Conamara’s empty, derelict dry-stone walls against the collective’s blend of Gaelic tradition, krautrock and free jazz.

Trá Pháidín travel South Connemara’s 424 bus route, creating a musical map that incorporates elements of Irish traditional music, earthy psych, ambient, kraut, free jazz, post rock, field recording and just about anything else you care to mention.
