With additional production from Daniel Lanois, the country aspects of Tinariwen’s Amatssou are subtle. Yet for all the Americana trimmings here, this band’s political take on praise-singing carries an eternal purity.

Tinariwen have shared a live video on Youtube from their exceptional concert at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord Paris on 28 June 2011. Watch them performing Asuf D Alwa from their Tassili album which was recorded and named after, the protected Algerian desert region of Tassili N’Ajjer.

Assàwt is the latest track revealed from Tinariwen’s forthcoming new album Elwan (‘The Elephants’), an album shaped by the band’s exile from their homeland. It is released 10th February via ANTI-.

For three days, Bristol’s Colston Hall was transformed into a place called Lau-Land. Traditional music mixed with the avant-garde and the genre-defying to create an all-round remarkable experience. Lau’s travelling festival is back again from Fri 29 – Sun 31 May 2015 as they curate one of their broadest musical events to date at Bristol’s Colston Hall.
