We catch up with The Young’uns songwriter-in-chief Sean Cooney and chat about their new album ‘Tiny Notes’ – the songs and the stories behind them – and the growing appetite for folk music and songs.
When singing unaccompanied and in unison, The Young’uns make an elemental sound, and on ‘Tiny Notes’, it pins you to the wall; they have created an album that has the potential to become a benchmark classic in modern topical folk music.
The Young’uns have shared their new single, Tiny Notes, which is also the title of their upcoming new album. Like many of their songs which have found hope and humanity in grief and despair, Tiny Notes was also inspired by a real-life story.
In February 2022, Mark Radcliffe of Radio 2’s The Folk Show launched 21st Century Folk. These songs are revealed for the first time today. The artists involved are Martyn Joseph, Thea Gilmore, The Young’uns, Chris Difford with Kathryn Williams, and Angeline Morrison with The Unthanks.
