The Rails

Despite the album title, The Rails show no signs of going quietly into that dark night as they further the rockier, more electric guitar feel of their last release while also displaying the Thompson musical DNA and family folk influences.

The Rails, Kami Thompson and James Walbourne, release the first taste from their stunning forthcoming third album today with this immaculate slice of modern contemporary folk ‘Mossy Well’.

The Rails’ ‘Other People’ has a supremely classy feel, and the music is pure gold. In terms of both writing and execution, its ten original songs exude an even more finely honed classiness than those on their well-received debut ‘Fair Warning’.

Critically acclaimed country/folk duo The Rails, Kami Thompson and husband  James Walbourne announce new album ‘Other People’ to be released on September 1st followed by a UK Tour.

Paul takes in a great evening of entertainment as Peter Bruntnell and Stevie Ray Latham put on a night to remember at London’s Green Note.

In Paul’s final part of his Cambridge Folk Festival review he takes in live reviews of Jason Isbell, The Rails, Van Morrison and a live review & interview with Lucy Ward.

Paul heads to Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen to catch an unforgettable performance by The Rails….”don’t be fooled by the beauty of the album – there’s blood in these tracks.”

The Rails, made up of Kami Thompson and partner, former Pretenders guitarist James Walbourne, release a free ‘Live in Session’ EP.

Island Records resurrect their classic 60s pink label for The Rails, daughter and son-in-law of folk music legends Richard & Linda Thompson, footsteps they are highly likely to follow.

The Rails (founded by Kami Thompson and James Walbourne) will play in the UK and USA on Record Store Day! They will have an early start at Rough Trade East this Saturday April 19th at 9:30am

Our Song of the Day is the debut single from The Rails: Kami Thompson (daughter of Richard and Linda) and her husband James Walbourne (Pretenders, Kinks, solo).
