The Decemberists

Folk Rock band, The Butchers and the Builders have released their third album, Dead Reckoning. They used the recording style of the 1950s and 1960s, where the magic of a song was captured by the band playing together live and with minimal overdubbing. The Decemeberists are to emabrk on their first leg of their interestingly titled “Popes of Pendarvia” World Tour 2011 which will tie in with the release of their new album The King is Dead.

The Decemberists have announced the release of a new album titled The king is Dead. The album will be released on 18th January 2011. Hear a track from the new album now.

Black Prairie are a progressive string band from various quarters of Portland, Oregon which seems to have a rich bedrock of musicians and artists on tap. Three-fifths of the band are made up of Decemberists members which has helped provide them with addtional exposure to their very unique style of neo-traditional Americana’ish music.

That’s right, Colin Meloy of the Decemberists is about to release a series of Children’s books. Maybe not so surprising as some may report though. The series entitled Wildwood see’s Meloy collaborating with his wife, Carsons Ellis, an illustrator. Wildwood is a classic tale of adventure, magic, and danger.
