FRUK talks to Stornoway’s principle songwriter, guitarist and Doctor of Ornithology Brian Briggs about their new album Bonxie an album that features the sounds of around 20 different species of bird. We also learn of his love for South Wales where he currently resides.

Once again there’s a strong indie pop sensibility informing the accessible, highly melodic tracks on Bonxie, though it’s less eclectic than its predecessor. Instead there is more of a direct connection with the summery, folksy roots of the debut, not least in rekindling their love affair with the shanty – and then there’s the birds.

Paul heads to London’s ‘The Hospital Club’ for the album launch of Stornoway’s new album Bonxie. The songs show a marked progression from the first two albums; more inventive, more confident and rounded, as are the band onstage.

Get folding to win some tickets to Stornoway’s exclusive album launch party in London on 4th March or a signed copy of their new album.

We have a beautiful track from Stornoway’s new album to share called The Road You Didn’t Take which has the Gower Peninsula in Wales to thank for inspiration.

Stornoway have revealed a short film on the making of their album “Tales from Terra Firma”. In a nutshell it is one of the best ‘making of’ films I’ve seen and if you haven’t got the album you’ll want it by the end. It’s Brilliant.

Folk Radio UK heads to Band on the Wall in Manchester to catch Stornoway performing live who recently released their second album ‘Tales From Terra Firma’. It was a fantastic performance!
