Steve Reich

Erik Hall announces his new album Solo Three, out January 23rd on Western Vinyl. It’s the final entry in his acclaimed trilogy reimagining minimalist composers. The new LP tackles works by Glenn Branca, Charlemagne Palestine, and Laurie Spiegel. He shares the first single, a kaleidoscopic adaptation of Steve Reich’s “Music for a Large Ensemble,” created by performing every intricate part himself.

In a new “Nonesuch Selects” video released this week, composer Steve Reich offers an intimate tour of some of his favourite music. He includes recordings that share connections to his work, from the propulsive energy of John Adams to foundational Balinese Gamelan. Part of a celebration including the monumental Collected Works box set, the video is a generous act of aural cartography from a master of modern music.
