Skipinnish

Our reviewer falls under the spell of Skipinnish upon hearing their latest album ‘Steer by the Stars’, with its nautical themes he declares it the “catch of the day”. This is the band’s seventh album and their 20th Anniversary.

The Glasgow welcome that Skipinnish received on Friday night was beyond exuberant. The audience was in a euphoric mood throughout, and it’s heart-warming to see a band whose core audience is in the north-west of Scotland enjoy such an enthusiastic welcome in the heart of Glasgow.

I first heard this Skipinnish line-up last year at Oban Live and was bowled over both by the music and the almost ecstatic reaction it produced in the audience. The Seventh Wave comes about as close as any studio album could to replicating this feeling.

Johnny shares his highlights of this year’s Tiree Music Festival which included Skerryvore, Sharon Shannon, Trail West, Breabach, Skippinish, Flook and more.
