Simon Armitage

L.Y.R. share the title track from their forthcoming album Dark Sky Reservation, out 3rd April via Real World Records. Named for those regions where light pollution is outlawed, the song turns that environmental concept inward — into doubt, hesitation, and the uneasy beauty of the unknown. Richard Walters’ ethereal vocals and Armitage’s dry spoken word make for a quietly devastating pairing.

L.Y.R. announce their third album, Dark Sky Reservation, out 3rd April via Real World Records. Featuring Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, Patrick J. Pearson, and Richard Walters, the project explores the “messed-up weather” of our modern world. New single “Blah! Blah! Blah!” is out now, ahead of an extensive UK tour including a headline performance at London’s ICA this May.

Our Song of the Day comes from LYR, featuring singer Richard Walters, producer Patrick J Pearson and poet Simon Armitage. A Brief Chronicle of Birds in the Autumn and Winter Months of 1886 PT II, is taken from their new album, An Unnatural History.

Following his celebrated adventures in drama, translation, travel writing and prose poetry, Simon Armitage’s eleventh collection of poems, The Unaccompanied, heralds a return to his trademark contemporary lyricism. Watch Simon read ‘Thank You for Waiting’, an exclusive new poem.
